Signs of Labor and Delivery

Cat

Most cats like to be alone when giving birth that usually happens quickly. Most mothers clean up after themselves, but sometime help is needed.

• Decreased activity
• Milk discharge
• Restlessness
• Calling as if in heat
• Licking of vaginal area

Are two signs of dog going into labor. Make sure a whelping box is already in place for her to have her baby's. The mother will lick the puppy once it is outside the womb to clean off the fluid-filled sac surrounding the pup. This will help circulation and get the pup crying.

This will continue until all puppies are delivered. If labor stops for more than 24 hours after one or two pups seek veterinarian assists.
