What type of Pregnency tests are out there? What are the
differences? How accurate are they? Most early Pregnency test are the home Pregnency test you
see in any drugstore. Such as, EPT – error proof test and
First response. These are the most common used or seen.
How do they work?
All Pregnency test look for what is known as the Pregnency
hormone, called human chorionic gonadotropin (hGC). This
hormone is release in blood and urine, about six days after
the implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus. These
tests are made to detect this hormone as early as 5 days
before your missed period. However, waiting one week after
your missed period will give a more accurate detection of
the hormone.
Blood
Test
The most accurate way to determine Pregnency is through a
blood test called Beta hCG (BhCG). This test measures the
amount of hCG in the blood stream, determining how many
days, weeks, or months along the patient is. Some doctors
will order this test on the first visit; however, most have
started using urine Pregnency test. Which are the same as
what any drugstore would carry, giving the same positive or
negative sign.
How accurate are these tests?
Most of the home Pregnency tests are 99% accurate if used
correctly. Make sure to read the package insert before using
the test for the best results.
