Pregnency risk
Not every woman is safe from the risks of becoming pregnant.
With every Pregnency comes some risk and just one of those
risks is an Ectopic Pregnency or Tubal Pregnency. (EPT)
What is an ectopic or tubal
Pregnency?
It is when the fertilized ovum implants onto any tissue
other than endometrial lining of the uterus. The most common
being in the fallopian tube, in other simpler words, this
happens when the eggs implants outside of the womb.
What are the
symptoms?
• Lower Abdominal or
pelvic pain
• Mild cramps

• Abnormal bleeding
• Breast tenderness
• Nausea
• Low back pain
What puts women at risk for this type of Pregnency?
There is no known cause as to why this type of Pregnency
occurs. Many factors may increase a woman’s chance in having
an ectopic Pregnency, but then again some of the following
may not even be present.
• Age
• Pelvic Inflammatory Disease – such as gonorrhea
• Tubal surgery – any type of surgery on tubes
• Pervious ectopic
• DES exposure – a drug once used during Pregnency
• Pervious termination of Pregnency
• IVF (test-tube baby) and ovulation induction
Treatment
The most common treatment for women who have a ectopic
Pregnency is a Laparotomy or Laparoscopy. Which are
preformed to remove the fetus and any risk of a rupture.
